The Final Hours

Hello Friends,

The battle for our future is drawing to a close, and I understand that emotions are running high and nerves are frayed. The team here at UHC has been tirelessly advocating for our values, pouring every ounce of effort into this cause that is so close to our hearts. I'm certain your wondering if we will come out on top or if we will lose this fight, and I'll be the first to tell you-we have every chance in the world to WIN this fight! With all of the efforts put in by UHC, CRWM, CWDB and a host of other conservation groups the anti's have faced a battle unlike anything they have ever fought before. Our education campaign, through online platforms, in-person meetings, and direct mail has worked wonders in dispelling misconceptions about what it means to be a Houndsmen. The outreach we’ve achieved is beyond what I ever imagined possible, and we are hearing from many individuals, even those outside the hunting community, who are now poised to vote in favor of what truly benefits Colorado.

Also to our benefit, the Democratic Part of Colorado has taken a "no position" position, the Colorado Republican Party has taken a "Vote NO" position, and even Governor Polis couldn't make his mind up and chose a "No Position" position, I'm sure he's got a nice couch to sleep on. We've also been lucky enough to see "Vote NO" positions out of many major media sources in the state including, Denver Post, Vail Daily, Denver Gazette, being quoted saying this about Prop 127: "The proposal — bankrolled by out-of-state interests — appears to be another incremental step in the national animal-rights movement’s campaign to ban all hunting."

Additionally there has also been many county commissioners and former CPW staffers who have come out in opposition to this bill as well, so many so I can't even remember them all to state them here. These are not small steps in the road to success these are giant leaps. This shows and proves that putting the truth and science in the face of Colorado citizens gives them the chance to make the smart and educated decision to Vote NO on this radical Proposition.

One thing about this successful effort, it has not been easy nor convenient for anyone involved. Outside of our team of Houndsmen here at UHC there has been a relentless effort put out by Dan Gates, and the teams he's assembled, it cannot be stated enough without his sheer grit and determination this email I'm typing would likely be a lot different. Dan has sacrificed his time, his resources and his mental fortitude to stand at the front of the line. Dan has been been a target and literal punching bag for these radical anti's, and he has stood firm in the face of all the pressures and threats. Win or Lose Dan deserves a thank you from every hunter who hunts this beautiful state. Now with all that said, I, myself am hopefully optimistic that come Nov. 5th we will see the fruits of all this labor and live to fight another day in Colorado. So I say to you, Houndsmen, stay strong and keep your spirits high. Together, we have the power to overcome any challenge. Let’s lean on one another and trust that brighter days are ahead! We can beat this and we can grow to be a more powerful community for the future battles to come our way.

When we stay united we can do anything.
